Quality Manager Requirements & Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of experience in quality management or related field, with proven team leadership and process implementation
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical discipline required
  • Advanced knowledge of quality systems and core tools (APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, FMEA)
  • Strong familiarity with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and other industry-specific quality standards
  • Advanced problem-solving skills (8D, Root Cause Analysis, 5-Phase)
  • Ability to manage quality operations across multiple sites as needed

Quality Manager Preferred Background & Skills

  • ASQ certifications such as CQE, CQA, or CMQ/OE
  • Experience leading quality initiatives in steel fabrication, welding, or heavy manufacturing environments

Quality Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee a unified quality strategy for manufacturing operations
  • Standardize quality systems and documentation to ensure compliance and efficiency
  • Lead and mentor quality teams, implementing ongoing training programs
  • Serve as primary liaison for customer quality concerns, driving resolution and clear communication
  • Monitor key quality metrics, analyze trends, and provide regular reports to senior leadership
  • Oversee quality control for welded, machined, and fabricated components
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives, Lean Manufacturing, and root cause analysis activities
  • Manage quality resources and budgets, ensuring cost-effective and impactful operations
