There's a specific kind of paralegal this role is built for: someone who's spent years inside a fast-moving, deadline-driven practice and has gotten good at running it without needing to be told what's next. Our client's Commercial Property Tax group in Uniondale handles a heavy docket of valuation disputes for commercial property owners, and the nature of the work means dozens of matters are always in motion at once, each tied to filing dates set by statute or municipal calendar — not negotiable, not flexible. What the group needs isn't more hands to process paperwork; it's someone experienced enough to own the whole operational picture — spotting a deadline risk two weeks out instead of two days out, keeping attorneys focused on substance instead of logistics, and being the person newer paralegals check with when something's unclear. You'd be handling property and valuation data, prepping filings, and keeping a high-volume caseload moving cleanly — largely on your own judgment, with attorneys looped in only when something genuinely needs their input. It's a demanding seat, and overtime during filing crunches comes with it, but for the right person this is a chance to run something rather than just support it.

What You'll Be Doing

Keeping a large, fast-moving caseload of property tax filings and pleadings on track for the attorneys and paralegals around you

Pulling together property and valuation details from clients and outside sources so it's ready for attorney review

Watching the whole docket at once — spotting where deadlines are tightening before they become a problem

Getting form-driven filings prepped and out the door within tight procedural windows

Making the day-to-day deadline calls yourself, and knowing which ones need an attorney's eyes first

Being a resource other paralegals turn to when a process question comes up

Staying flexible on hours when filing periods get heavy

What You Bring

At least 5 years doing paralegal or similar legal support work — litigation, real estate, or tax backgrounds all work

A track record of handling a lot of moving parts at once without letting deadlines slip

Genuine comfort working without close oversight — this isn't a role where someone's checking your work daily

Good instincts for when something's routine versus when it needs to go up the chain

Sharp written and verbal communication

A four-year degree (required); paralegal certification helps but isn't a must
