Chief of Staff Requirements & Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience supporting or coordinating activities for a Board of Directors or governing body
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field
  • Proven track record leading executive-level projects or strategic organizational initiatives
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and project management skills
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities
  • Skilled in building relationships and influencing at all organizational levels
  • High level of professionalism and discretion with sensitive information
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and general business technology

Chief of Staff Preferred Background & Skills

  • Experience in healthcare, nonprofit, or other mission-driven organizations
  • Project management certification (PMP or similar)
  • Familiarity with process improvements, automation, or AI-enabled business solutions

Chief of Staff Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison and coordinator for the Board of Directors and committee operations
  • Advise and partner with the President & CEO to translate vision into actionable plans and drive organizational strategy
  • Lead cross-functional strategic initiatives and manage executive project execution from planning to measurement
  • Prepare board agendas, meeting materials, executive briefings, and decision-support resources
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between departments to advance organizational priorities
  • Foster relationships with leadership, board members, and external partners, serving as a trusted representative for the President & CEO
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve operational effectiveness and organizational workflows
