Director of Catering Sales

A distinguished hospitality organization is seeking an experienced leader to drive catering sales strategy and deliver exceptional experiences across a diverse portfolio of events. Director of Catering Sales Benefits & Compensation

  • Base salary: $120,000–$125,000 annually
  • Full-time, exempt position with long-term growth potential

Director of Catering Sales Requirements & Qualifications

  • 5–7+ years of progressive experience in catering sales or event planning, ideally with hotels, luxury venues, or elevated hospitality settings
  • Proven success driving catering revenue, generating new business, converting leads, and nurturing repeat clients
  • Solid understanding of food & beverage operations, banquet service, menu development, and event execution
  • Strong proficiency with CRM platforms, event planning software, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Polished communication, organization, and presentation skills
  • Availability for client meetings and events during evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

Director of Catering Sales Preferred Background & Skills

  • Experience managing multiple event types and priorities simultaneously
  • Track record as a proactive, sales-driven leader who excels in relationship building
  • Ability to collaborate across culinary, operations, marketing, finance, and leadership teams
  • Highly detail-oriented with creative, solution-focused mindset

Director of Catering Sales Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive catering sales strategies to drive revenue, profitability, and market share
  • Identify, cultivate, and close new business opportunities across corporate, social, wedding, and nonprofit segments
  • Conduct site tours, presentations, tastings, and client meetings, showcasing the property’s event capabilities
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline through prospecting, networking, and community engagement
  • Collaborate with culinary and operations teams to ensure seamless event planning and flawless execution
  • Ensure accurate preparation of proposals, contracts, Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), and related documentation
  • Mentor and support junior team members where applicable
  • Represent the organization at industry events, networking functions, and community activities

This role offers a chance to take ownership of a significant revenue channel, building long-term client relationships and shaping memorable, high-touch events within an established, supportive hospitality environment.
