Industrial General Superintendent
Indianapolis w/ Travel
We are seeking an experienced Industrial General Superintendent to lead field operations on large-scale industrial electrical construction projects. This individual will oversee multiple jobsites and field teams, ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the highest standards of quality.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on electrical construction leader with strong industrial experience, proven multi-site supervision skills, and the ability to develop field personnel while driving productivity, safety, and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support Site Superintendents, Foremen, Journeymen, Apprentices, and field crews across multiple projects.
- Conduct regular jobsite visits to evaluate safety, quality, manpower, productivity, schedule progress, and field performance.
- Coordinate manpower planning, workforce deployment, mobilization, equipment, tools, and material transfers between jobsites.
- Review daily reports, production updates, labor tracking, look-ahead schedules, and project documentation.
- Partner with Project Managers, engineering, operations, payroll, subcontractors, labor providers, and clients to resolve field issues.
- Monitor installation progress, labor productivity, project schedules, and workforce needs.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, mentorship, and performance support to field leaders and craft professionals.
- Lead toolbox talks and reinforce all company safety policies and electrical safe-work practices.
- Support commissioning, startup, testing, and energization activities.
- Travel nationally as required to support active project operations.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of electrical construction experience, preferably within industrial environments such as manufacturing, water/wastewater treatment, oil and gas, chemical processing, steel, or similar process facilities.
- Active Journeyman Electrician license required; ability to obtain a Master Electrician license within 12 months if applicable.
- Proven experience leading field operations, crews, and manpower across multiple jobsites or large-scale projects.
- Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code, electrical theory, and electrical safe-work practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical drawings, specifications, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, three-line diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively.
Technical Experience
- Industrial electrical installation, electrical and instrumentation systems, and process-facility construction.
- Motor controls, process controls, instrumentation, VFDs, soft starters, and related equipment.
- Commissioning, startup, testing, troubleshooting, and energization support.
- Manpower forecasting, labor allocation, field scheduling, material takeoffs, and procurement coordination.
- Medium-voltage experience is preferred.
Skills
- Strong leadership, coaching, mentoring, and workforce-development abilities.
- Excellent communication skills with field teams, customers, subcontractors, vendors, and company leadership.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced construction environment.
- High commitment to safety, quality, accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Autodesk Build, Bluebeam, and construction labor-tracking or project-management software.
