HR Coordinator Requirements & Qualifications
- Previous experience as a human resources professional or in HR administration preferred
- Managing and submitting payroll for over 1000 employees
- Onboarding and Benefit administration
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
- Availability for occasional business travel (up to 20%; expenses reimbursed)
- Bilingual English/Spanish
HR Coordinator Preferred Background & Skills
- Familiarity with ACA, FMLA, COBRA, and other HR compliance requirements
- Knowledge of multistate compliance (Midwest region preferred)
- Experience working with financial reports, spreadsheets, or accounting data
- Self-motivated, able to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments
HR Coordinator Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Serve as administrative support for the HR department
- Process payroll accurately and resolve any discrepancies
- Partner with payroll vendors for timely, compliant payroll processing
- Support benefit enrollment, changes, and employee inquiries
- Track and coordinate benefit eligibility, life event updates, and open enrollment activities
- Prepare meeting materials, reports, presentations, and communications
- Maintain accurate employee files and HR records
- Assist with onboarding, new hire paperwork, and leave administration (including FMLA)
- Ensure compliance with employment regulations and assist with HR reporting
- Organize electronic and paper filing systems for confidential documentation
- Track and follow up on action items to keep priorities moving forward
