An international Hospitality Group is seeking an experienced and strategic Corporate Director of Engineering to lead engineering, facilities, capital planning, and asset preservation across a growing portfolio of luxury hospitality properties. Reporting to executive leadership, this role is responsible for establishing engineering standards, directing preventive maintenance programs, overseeing capital planning and execution, managing life safety and regulatory compliance, driving sustainability initiatives, and providing functional leadership to property Chief Engineers. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with exceptional financial acumen, leadership, and project management skills to ensure every property operates safely, efficiently, and at the highest standard of excellence.

Compensation Package:

  • Salary – $185,000 to 220,000
  • Bonus – up to 20%

Ideal Candidates possess:

  • Multi-property hospitality engineering/facilities leadership experience
  • Strong capital planning and project management background
  • Experience with hotel renovations, PIPs, and asset preservation programs
  • Proven leadership of engineering teams across multiple locations
  • Strong financial acumen, including CAPEX and R&M budgeting
  • Experience working with ownership groups and executive leadership teams
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
  • Previous experience of 18+ Assets
  • Preferred Hotel Categories – Lifestyle and Upper Mid-Scale
  • ABILITY TO RELOCATE TO THE NORTHEAST OF THE USA AND TRAVEL INTERNATIONALLY

Primary Responsibilities:

Capital Projects & Capital Planning

  • Develop and maintain a multi-year capital improvement plan across the portfolio.
  • Prioritize projects based on asset condition, operational requirements, risk, and return on investment.
  • Lead operational capital projects, including:
    • Building systems replacements
    • Infrastructure upgrades
    • FF&E refreshes
    • Mechanical and electrical improvements
  • Manage project scope, bidding, contractor selection, budgets, schedules, and successful delivery.
  • Partner with the Development and Construction companies on major renovations and redevelopment projects by providing engineering expertise, operational planning, and seamless turnover to hotel operations.
  • Conduct property condition assessments and translate findings into funded capital investment plans.
  • Report project status, capital expenditures, forecasting, and budget performance to ownership and executive leadership.

Engineering Operations

  • Establish and enforce standardized preventive maintenance programs across all properties.
  • Develop engineering standards, SOPs, equipment specifications, and maintenance procedures.
  • Oversee all critical building systems.
  • Monitor engineering performance.

Compliance, Risk & Life Safety

  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes and regulatory requirements throughout the United States and Europe.
  • Maintain portfolio-wide compliance with:
    • Fire & Life Safety
    • Building Codes
    • Accessibility Standards
    • Water Hygiene
    • Local Licensing Requirements
  • Oversee inspection schedules, certifications, testing, and documentation.
  • Maintain emergency preparedness and business continuity plans.
  • Coordinate insurance inspections and property risk mitigation initiatives.

Building Envelope & Exterior Asset Management

  • Direct maintenance and preservation of building exteriors.
  • Oversee exterior repairs, remediation projects, and regulatory filings.
  • Coordinate exterior construction activities to minimize operational disruption and guest impact.

Energy Management & Sustainability

  • Monitor energy consumption and utility expenditures across the portfolio.
  • Identify and implement energy conservation initiatives with measurable return on investment.
  • Lead equipment modernization projects that improve operational efficiency.
  • Support corporate sustainability objectives and environmental reporting requirements.

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage annual Repair & Maintenance and Capital budgets.
  • Monitor expenditures and ensure projects remain on budget.
  • Analyze facility costs by occupied room and per-key metrics.
  • Identify operational efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Approve facilities contracts, purchase orders, and vendor expenditures within delegated authority.

Vendor & Contractor Management

  • Develop strategic relationships with national and regional service providers.
  • Negotiate service agreements that maximize value and consistency.
  • Establish vendor performance standards and service level agreements.
  • Monitor contractor performance, quality, responsiveness, and cost efficiency.

Pre-Opening and Opening Support

  • Support new hotel developments from ground breaking through opening.
  • Establish engineering operating standards for new properties.
  • Ensure a seamless transition from development to hotel operations.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide strategic leadership and technical guidance to Chief Engineers and Engineering Managers.
  • Standardize engineering practices and operational procedures.
  • Recruit, mentor, coach, and develop engineering talent.
  • Build succession plans and strengthen engineering leadership throughout the organization.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

Experience

  • Minimum of 7+ years of progressive engineering or facilities leadership experience within hospitality or luxury mixed-use environments.
  • Multi-property or corporate engineering leadership experience required.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex capital projects from planning through completion.
  • Experience overseeing preventive maintenance programs across multiple facilities.
  • Strong financial management experience, including operating and capital budgets.
  • Knowledge of U.S. building codes is required.

A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Facilities Management, or a related discipline is preferred. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.

Professional certifications such as CFM, PMP, LEED, engineering licenses, trade certifications, or energy management credentials are highly desirable.
