Veterinarian Benefits & Compensation

Salary range: $120,000–$140,000 per year

Veterinarian Requirements & Qualifications

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree
Licensed or eligible for licensure in Pennsylvania
USDA APHIS accreditation (or willingness to obtain)
DEA license (or willingness to apply)
Experience or strong interest in shelter medicine and high-quality, high-volume spay and neuter (HQHVSN) surgery
Commitment to animal welfare mission and values

Veterinarian Preferred Background & Skills

Interest or experience in community outreach and humane investigations
Experience mentoring veterinary staff, students, or volunteers
Familiarity with digital radiography, in-house lab work, or modern shelter management software

Veterinarian Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Provide medical and surgical care for shelter animals, public clinic patients, and wildlife
Perform spay/neuter surgeries, dentistry, diagnostics, and HQHVSN procedures
Develop and implement high-standard treatment protocols
Mentor and support veterinary team members, students, and volunteers
Participate in community programs, mobile clinics, and public outreach events
Collaborate with external partners to improve overall animal care and outcomes
