Cafe General Manager Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of general manager experience in a full-service restaurant or cafe
  • Proven track record of achieving KPIs, managing P&L, budgeting, and forecasting
  • DOH Accreditation and/or ServSafe Certification
  • Passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional service
  • Strong financial acumen and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Coaching and mentoring skills to develop hourly team members
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs

Cafe General Manager Preferred Background & Skills

  • Experience fostering team development through regular feedback and performance reviews
  • Community engagement experience

Cafe General Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily cafe operations, ensuring smooth workflow and exceptional guest experiences
  • Set a positive tone, inspire your team, and reinforce quality assurance standards
  • Build genuine guest relationships, promoting regular visits and a welcoming atmosphere
  • Manage sales, cost of goods, and labor targets to drive store profitability
  • Lead by example in health and safety practices, ensuring ServSafe compliance
  • Engage with the local community to fulfill the company’s mission in your neighborhood
  • Encourage growth within your team through coaching and performance reviews
