Project Manager – Public Works Requirements & Qualifications

• 10+ years of construction experience, including significant work on wastewater treatment plant projects
• Experience as a project manager with a contractor
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management preferred
• Valid driver’s license
• First Aid and CPR certification, and Competent Person training
• Ability to work in active construction and outdoor environments, including lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally

Project Manager – Public Works Preferred Background & Skills

• Experience leading construction management for public sector utility or infrastructure projects
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership abilities

Project Manager – Public Works Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary representative for the contractor, coordinating with internal teams, engineers, subcontractors, and the owner
• Oversee all field engineering activities, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery in compliance with project specifications
• Lead all aspects of pre-construction, job setup, and project documentation
• Develop and manage site logistics, material staging, and safety programs, consistently enforcing safety policies
• Coordinate and manage submittals, scheduling, change orders, and procurement of materials and services
• Lead and mentor the project management team, supporting hiring, coaching, and professional development
• Proactively identify and resolve project issues, ensuring high standards for safety, quality, and client satisfaction
