A well-established, nationally recognized law firm is seeking a mid-level Litigation Associate to join its expanding defense practice in Tacoma, Washington. This role focuses on complex civil litigation matters involving insurance coverage disputes, catastrophic injury claims, transportation liability, premises liability, and related commercial conflicts. The ideal candidate is a proactive litigator who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable managing cases from investigation through resolution.
Associate Responsibilities:
- Conduct depositions, attend court hearings, mediations, and support trial proceedings.
- Draft and file pleadings, dispositive motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
- Develop discovery strategies, including drafting and responding to discovery requests.
- Perform legal research using leading research platforms and prepare analytical memoranda.
- Evaluate claims, analyze evidence, and formulate case strategy.
- Communicate effectively with clients, carriers, opposing counsel, and internal team members regarding case developments.
Associate Requirements:
- Active admission to practice law in Washington State.
- 3–6 years of civil litigation experience, preferably in defense matters.
- Demonstrated strength in legal research, writing, and oral advocacy.
- Ability to manage multiple matters with strong organizational skills.
- Sound judgment in handling confidential and time-sensitive issues.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Associate Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range of $125,000 – $155,000, commensurate with experience.
