Assistant General Manager – Montreal, QC

A respected hospitality group is seeking an Assistant General Manager to play a key, hands-on leadership role at a busy hotel property. This is an excellent opportunity for an organized, service-driven leader who thrives in a visible, fast-paced environment and enjoys mentoring teams to deliver an exceptional guest experience.

Assistant General Manager Benefits & Compensation

  • Base salary: $65,000–$75,000 (CAD)
  • $50/month phone allowance
  • Health insurance (50% employer-paid)
  • Paid time off

Assistant General Manager Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English
  • Prior experience as an Assistant General Manager or Front Office Manager in a hotel environment
  • Strong hands-on expertise supporting Front Desk operations
  • Proven leadership with excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining high service standards
  • Professional communication, discretion, and sound judgment
  • Flexibility to work weekends or shifts based on operational needs
  • Proficiency with hotel systems and booking platforms

Assistant General Manager Preferred Background & Skills

  • Experience with property management systems and operational software (e.g., Medallia, Guest Relations, Expedia, Booking.com)
  • Skilled in coaching, mentoring, and team development

Assistant General Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Maintain an active, visible presence on the floor, supporting teams throughout daily operations
  • Deliver and model prompt, professional guest service, handling special requests and concerns as needed
  • Supervise, coach, and motivate Front Desk staff to achieve service excellence
  • Oversee reservations, billing, guest communications, loyalty programs, and guest satisfaction tools
  • Ensure compliance with brand policies, procedures, and quality service standards
  • Prepare work schedules, respond to employee needs, and support staffing requirements
  • Liaise professionally with outside housekeeping and maintenance vendors
  • Monitor inventory for guest areas, ensuring supplies are stocked and presentable
