Advanced Machinist Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 6+ years machining experience (mill, lathe, saw, or boring machines) with large steel forgings
- Ability to communicate in English
- Proficiency with tape measures
- Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 50 lbs
Advanced Machinist Preferred Background & Skills
- CNC (mill or lathe) experience
- MDI experience
- OSHA or machining certifications
Advanced Machinist Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Operate overhead crane for machine loading and unloading
- Layout and plan cut paths; determine proper tooling
- Monitor machining process, adjusting feeds and speeds as needed
- Manage chip production and maintain a clean work area, including sweeping and shoveling
- Measure finished pieces using rulers, pi tape, dial indicators, and calipers
- Complete required documentation in paper or electronic format
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
