General Manager

General Manager Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a general manager in the restaurant industry
  • High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred
  • Manager Food Safety certification and ServSafe Alcohol Certification
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong ability to build relationships with guests and team members

General Manager Preferred Background & Skills

  • Bilingual abilities are a plus

General Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Consistently deliver exceptional customer service, proactively resolving concerns and fostering guest loyalty
  • Serve as the “personality” of the restaurant, engaging with regulars and participating in community activities
  • Oversee all daily operations, ensuring high standards for food quality, service, and cleanliness
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to deliver outstanding menu offerings and streamline service
  • Lead, motivate, and develop staff through hiring, training, and ongoing coaching, supporting their growth and success
  • Manage scheduling, labor forecasting, and budget adherence to drive profitability
  • Implement and uphold all food safety, handling, and sanitation requirements, ensuring a safe work environment
  • Execute company marketing programs and local initiatives to drive sales and grow the restaurant’s reputation
