Director of Engineering
Position Summary
The Director of Engineering oversees the maintenance, repair, and overall operation of the senior living community to ensure a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This role manages the maintenance team, building systems, vendor relationships, and regulatory compliance.
Director of Engineering Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily maintenance of resident apartments, common areas, grounds, and building systems.
- Manage HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire safety, and life safety systems.
- Develop and maintain preventative maintenance programs.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, local/state regulations, and senior living safety standards.
- Supervise, train, and schedule maintenance staff.
- Manage vendor contracts, outside contractors, and capital improvement projects.
- Develop and monitor department budgets, expenses, and inventory.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency situations.
- Maintain maintenance logs, inspections, licenses, and compliance records.
- Support resident satisfaction by ensuring a safe and comfortable living environment.
Director of Engineering Qualifications
- 5+ years of maintenance or engineering leadership experience, preferably in senior living, hospitality, healthcare, or multifamily housing.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building systems.
- Experience with budgeting, vendor management, and compliance.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
