Lead Data Engineer — Hybrid (3 Days Onsite)
A fast-growing and highly successful consumer financial services company based in Plano, TX, is looking for a Lead Data Engineer to join their expanding Corporate Reporting & Analytics team. They are seeking a driven individual with a passion for data engineering, analytics, and problem-solving who is ready to take ownership, mentor others, and drive data strategy at scale.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without employer sponsorship, now or in the future. Work visas cannot be sponsored or supported for this role.
About You
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and mentor junior engineers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
• Passionate about designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and workflows.
• Motivated to continuously learn new tools, technologies, and best practices.
Required Skills & Experience
• Proven track record leading the design and delivery of complex data systems.
• Experience with Python and data modeling/data warehousing principles.
• Hands-on experience with SQL (preferably MySQL, MariaDB, or PostgreSQL).
• Familiarity with data visualization tools and libraries such as Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Superset, matplotlib, or Plotly.
• Foundational knowledge of predictive analytics, statistical modeling, and data mining concepts.
• Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Bonus: Experience with Salesforce or marketing data (preferred but not required).
What You'll Do
• Lead the design, build, and maintenance of scalable data pipeline architectures to support business intelligence and reporting needs.
• Drive technical direction and mentor team members on engineering best practices.
• Develop high-quality, maintainable code to solve complex business problems.
• Ensure data is well-structured, accurate, and ready for visualization and analysis.
• Gather and integrate data from multiple sources.
• Communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences clearly and effectively.
• Build and maintain automated reports, dashboards, and data tools that drive decision-making.
• Champion best practices in data governance, quality, and performance.
• Provide thorough and up-to-date documentation for data processes and systems.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable data solutions.
