Restaurant Assistant General Manager Requirements & Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of restaurant management experience in high-volume or upscale environments
- Strong understanding of restaurant financials, including labor and cost controls
- Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate diverse teams
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Food safety certification required (or ability to obtain)
- Ability to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays, with flexibility for demanding schedules
- Capable of standing for extended periods and lifting up to 25–40 lbs
Restaurant Assistant General Manager Preferred Background & Skills
- Experience supporting onboarding and training programs
- Familiarity with using scheduling, reporting, and operational systems
- Comfort stepping into General Manager responsibilities when needed
Restaurant Assistant General Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Partner with the General Manager to oversee daily restaurant operations and uphold brand standards
- Lead, train, and inspire a dynamic team, fostering a positive and guest-focused culture
- Deliver exceptional guest experiences and address concerns in real time
- Monitor and enhance food quality, cleanliness, and overall restaurant environment
- Support financial performance by managing labor, food costs, and business plan execution
- Ensure compliance with food safety, labor laws, and internal policies
- Assist with menu launches, system rollouts, and operational initiatives
