This established land surveying and land development firm has been serving the Great Northern Catskills region for decades, providing comprehensive in-house services that combine land surveying and civil land development expertise. The team is known for navigating complex regulations and delivering tailored solutions to ensure successful project outcomes.

About the Role

An experienced Senior Survey Technician is needed to help lead and manage survey department operations. This full-time, on-site position requires strong technical knowledge and leadership ability to support efficient day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities

Field Crew Leadership:

Manage and schedule survey fieldwork operations

Ensure proper survey procedures and instrumentation practices are followed

Survey Operations:

Process and correct conventional and GPS data using Trimble survey equipment

Perform field map markups and deed plotting

Draft survey maps

Conduct QA/QC reviews

Monitor and manage survey supplies and inventory

Ensure timely submission of crew time logs and mileage records

Track project progress and maintain schedules

Reporting & Compliance:

Report to Project Managers and senior leadership

Maintain accurate records and documentation related to fieldwork

Provide updates on project progress and identify potential challenges

Qualifications

3–5 years of demonstrable experience as a Survey Technician, including processing and correcting survey data, particularly with Trimble equipment

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team

Prior experience in land surveying required; formal education in surveying is a plus

Ability to carry up to 40 pounds over uneven terrain

Strong organizational and leadership skills

Proficiency with surveying instruments, equipment, and procedures

Valid driver’s license required

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions as needed
