Business Development / Project Manager

Location: Buda, TX / Austin & Central Texas Territory

Compensation: $85,000 base salary + commission

Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role

We are seeking a Business Development / Project Manager to join our growing Central Texas team. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced commercial flooring professional who combines strong sales and business-development skills with project management expertise.

The primary focus of this position is to generate new business, develop client relationships, and grow revenue, while also providing project and account management from award through completion.

You will have the support of an experienced Project Coordinator, Production Manager, Estimating team, Superintendents, and established subcontractor network. This structure allows you to focus on what you do best: building relationships, winning work, and ensuring your clients have a great experience.

The territory will primarily cover Austin, Central Texas, and surrounding communities, with flexibility to work from home, the Buda office, client locations, and job sites.

What You'll Do

Business Development & Sales

  • Develop and maintain relationships with general contractors, owners, developers, architects, designers, and other commercial flooring decision-makers.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities throughout the Central Texas market.
  • Leverage an existing network and book of business while continuously developing new relationships.
  • Pursue bid opportunities and respond to invitations to bid.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, client meetings, networking events, and job-site visits.
  • Develop proposals and bids in collaboration with the estimating team.
  • Identify opportunities for additional work, change orders, and upselling.
  • Build a sustainable pipeline of future opportunities and projects.
  • Represent the company professionally throughout the marketplace.

Project & Account Management

  • Manage awarded projects from kickoff through billing and closeout.
  • Serve as the primary client contact throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with the Project Coordinator, Production Manager, Estimating team, Superintendents, and subcontractors.
  • Review project requirements, schedules, specifications, and material needs.
  • Monitor material procurement and delivery to ensure projects remain on schedule.
  • Visit job sites as needed to monitor progress and address client needs.
  • Identify potential issues early and coordinate solutions with the internal team.
  • Monitor project schedules and communicate changes or concerns to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with change orders, billing, documentation, and project closeout.
  • Maintain strong client relationships with the goal of generating repeat and referral business.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is sales-driven first and project-management capable second. The ideal candidate understands commercial flooring and knows how to develop relationships that turn into revenue.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in commercial flooring sales, business development, project management, or a combination of these areas.
  • Proven ability to develop new business and generate revenue.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction and flooring projects.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and client relationships simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
  • Strong organizational and follow-through skills.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the Austin/Central Texas territory for meetings and job sites.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing book of business or established commercial construction relationships.
  • Experience with commercial flooring estimating and takeoffs.
  • Experience with bid-driven commercial construction.
  • Knowledge of carpet, LVT/LVP, sheet vinyl, ceramic/tile, rubber, hardwood/athletic flooring, or specialty flooring.
  • Experience working with general contractors, healthcare, hospitality, education, multifamily, municipal, or other commercial customers.
  • Familiarity with construction estimating, CRM, ERP, or project-management software.
  • Experience with BuildingConnected, MeasureSquare, Foundation, or similar systems.

Why This Role Is Different

You won't be expected to do everything yourself.

Our Project Coordinator supports the administrative and documentation side of projects. Our Production Manager oversees field production and has strong relationships with subcontractors and installers. Our estimating team provides support with takeoffs, specifications, pricing, and bid development.

That means you'll have the resources to sell, manage relationships, and grow the business without having to personally handle every field or administrative detail.

At the same time, we want someone who understands the project lifecycle well enough to recognize issues, communicate effectively with clients, and make sure commitments are delivered.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $85,000 base salary
  • Commission opportunity based on sales and gross profit
  • Significant earning potential for high-performing sales professionals
  • Vehicle allowance options
  • Fuel/mileage support
  • Cell phone allowance or company phone
  • Company computer and technology
  • Training and professional development opportunities
  • Support from experienced project management, production, estimating, and administrative teams
  • Collaborative, family-oriented company culture

The commission structure may be customized based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.

Work Environment

This is a flexible, field-oriented position rather than a traditional Monday-through-Friday desk job.

Your time may be divided between:

  • Working from home
  • Working from the Buda office
  • Client meetings
  • Job sites
  • Bid meetings
  • Prospecting and networking events

You will initially spend additional time in the office while learning our systems, processes, team structure, and company culture.

Our Culture

We are a growing company with more than 30 years of industry experience, but we have maintained a family-business feel.

We value people who:

  • Take pride in their work.
  • Want to be part of a team.
  • Bring energy and enthusiasm to what they do.
  • Build genuine professional relationships.
  • Are confident without being arrogant.
  • Are willing to learn how we operate before deciding how to change it.
  • Take ownership and follow through.
  • Have a sense of humor and enjoy working with people.
  • Want an opportunity to build something and grow their income.

We have an experienced team with decades of combined industry knowledge, and we believe the right person should have both the support and the opportunity to succeed.

Success in This Role Looks Like

In this position, success means building relationships, winning profitable work, and delivering an excellent client experience.

You'll have the support and resources to manage the operational side of your projects. Your biggest opportunity is to bring in new business, grow existing relationships, and become a trusted resource for your customers.

If you're a commercial flooring professional who enjoys selling, building relationships, and managing projects, we'd like to hear from you.
