Geologist | Oil & Gas
We are currently seeking an experienced Geologist to support exploration, development, drilling, and production activities across U.S. onshore oil and natural gas properties, with a focus on shale resource plays.
Primary Objective
The Geologist will be responsible for a variety of geological assignments requiring broad knowledge of a geological specialty. This role involves solving geological problems using standard or modified procedures, conducting independent studies, analyzing data, interpreting results, and developing recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete field studies to identify infill and field extension opportunities and recommend optimum development drilling and completion programs.
- Work with engineering teams to assign risk and reserves.
- Oversee drilling activities and provide geological support throughout the drilling and completion phases.
- Provide technical support to operations, including log evaluation, core analysis, geophysics, and related geological activities.
- Prepare geological and geophysical studies as requested.
- Stay current with new technology and developments within the oil and gas industry.
- Present recommendations through oral presentations, written reports, maps, cross-sections, calculations, and supporting data.
- Perform other related duties and special projects as required.
Required Qualifications
Education & Knowledge
- Master's degree in Geology or Bachelor's degree with comparable work experience.
- Developed knowledge of oil and gas production.
- Developed knowledge of geological exploration techniques.
- Familiarity with the Haynesville, Eagle Ford, Marcellus, and Utica shale plays.
Experience
- 5–10 years of related experience in the oil and gas industry.
Competencies
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to research and evaluate information.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to apply common-sense understanding to complex written, oral, or diagram-based instructions.
- Strong proficiency with some or all of the following software:
- ArcGIS
- Petra
- SMT Kingdom
- StarSteer
