Executive Chef – Upscale Fine Dining

New York, NY

Salary: $110,000–$130,000 + Benefits

Full-Time

An established and expanding hospitality group is seeking an accomplished Executive Chef to lead culinary operations at a high-end New York City restaurant. This is an excellent opportunity for a polished, hands-on culinary leader who thrives in a sophisticated, high-volume environment and is passionate about exceptional food, team development, and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate brings a strong fine-dining background, excellent financial acumen, and the ability to lead and develop a talented culinary team while maintaining uncompromising standards for quality and execution.

Executive Chef Responsibilities

  • Lead all day-to-day culinary operations and oversee the kitchen leadership team
  • Manage, mentor, and develop Sous Chefs, line cooks, prep cooks, and support staff
  • Maintain exceptional standards for food quality, consistency, presentation, and execution
  • Run the line and provide hands-on leadership during service
  • Manage food and labor costs while achieving established financial targets
  • Oversee purchasing, inventory, production, prep, and product quality
  • Develop budgets and forecasts and monitor overall culinary financial performance
  • Partner with senior operations leadership on short- and long-term restaurant strategy
  • Recruit, hire, train, coach, and evaluate culinary team members
  • Develop menus, seasonal offerings, and daily specials
  • Manage scheduling and staffing levels based on business needs
  • Maintain strong communication between culinary leadership and front-of-house management
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health department requirements
  • Establish a positive kitchen culture centered around accountability, development, and excellence
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, control costs, and maximize profitability

Executive Chef Qualifications

  • 3+ years of culinary management experience
  • High-end/fine-dining restaurant experience required
  • Strong culinary technique and commitment to exceptional food quality
  • Proven experience managing food cost, labor, inventory, purchasing, and budgets
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-development abilities
  • Experience leading and developing Sous Chefs and hourly culinary teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Polished, professional, and energetic leadership style
  • Comfortable working within a structured, systems-driven restaurant environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency
  • Ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen
