Shipping & Receiving Lead Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant shipping, receiving, or warehouse experience, including team leadership
  • Direct experience in the food or consumer packaged goods industry preferred
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree a plus
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Proficiency with warehouse management systems and Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Proven ability to analyze data, address discrepancies, and manage priorities

Shipping & Receiving Lead Preferred Background & Skills

  • Experience with Netsuite or similar ERP software
  • Background in demand planning or forecasting
  • Knowledge of supply chain principles and best practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform root cause analysis

Shipping & Receiving Lead Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily shipping and receiving operations, coordinating all inbound and outbound activities
  • Lead, train, and schedule the shipping/receiving team for efficient workflow
  • Inspect shipments for accuracy, quality, and potential damage
  • Maintain and update accurate inventory records within the warehouse management system
  • Coordinate with carriers, logistics providers, and production teams to ensure timely pickups, deliveries, and operational continuity
  • Investigate and resolve shipping or receiving discrepancies, ensuring adherence to safety standards and procedures
  • Support physical inventory and cycle count processes
  • Communicate regularly with supply chain and warehouse leadership regarding shipment status, space utilization, and operational needs
