Closing Shift Manager Requirements & Qualifications

  • Previous leadership or management experience preferred
  • Restaurant, food service, retail, or hospitality experience preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to coach, motivate, and develop employees
  • Reliable attendance and dependable transportation
  • Availability to work evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays

Closing Shift Manager Preferred Background & Skills

  • Experience managing shifts in a restaurant or similar environment
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and make decisions independently

Closing Shift Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Lead, organize, and support a restaurant team during evening and closing hours
  • Assign crew positions, manage breaks, and ensure appropriate staffing levels
  • Maintain standards for food safety, cleanliness, and customer service throughout the shift
  • Oversee closing procedures, including cleaning, restocking, and securing the restaurant
  • Complete all cash handling, documentation, and closing paperwork accurately
  • Communicate any issues, inventory needs, or staffing concerns to opening management
  • Set a positive example, hold team members accountable, and ensure readiness for the next day
