A Unique Opportunity to Make a Meaningful Impact
Are you an experienced legal office professional who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems, and keeping a busy practice running smoothly?
Goodwin Recruiting is partnering with a highly respected boutique litigation firm in the Charleston area to identify an exceptional Office Manager / Bookkeeper.
This is more than a traditional bookkeeping position. We're seeking a trusted, detail-oriented professional who can oversee the firm's financial and administrative operations, allowing its attorneys to focus on delivering outstanding legal services.
You'll join a collaborative, professional environment where independence is encouraged, initiative is appreciated, and micromanagement isn't part of the culture.
What You'll Do
- Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping and financial recordkeeping using QuickBooks.
- Manage legal billing processes through Clio and electronic client billing portals.
- Perform account reconciliations, monitor financial transactions, and maintain accurate records.
- Coordinate payroll processing and related administrative responsibilities.
- Manage vendor relationships, invoices, payments, and ongoing service agreements.
- Coordinate insurance policies, renewals, and related administrative matters.
- Support the administration of employee benefits, including the firm's 401(k) plan.
- Collaborate with the firm's outside accounting professionals to ensure accurate financial reporting and efficient processes.
- Oversee general office administration and help maintain organized, efficient daily operations.
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, streamline workflows, and reduce administrative responsibilities for the firm's partners.
- Handle sensitive financial, employee, and client information with professionalism and discretion.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in bookkeeping, accounting operations, and office administration.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks and Clio.
- Experience with reconciliations, payroll coordination, vendor management, and financial recordkeeping.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities and work independently.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
- Professional judgment, discretion, and a high level of integrity.
- Experience in a law firm or comparable professional services environment strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with legal billing procedures and electronic billing portals is highly desirable.
Why You'll Love This Opportunity
- Meaningful Ownership: Play a central role in managing the business operations of an established litigation practice.
- Professional Autonomy: Work in an environment that values initiative, trust, and independent decision-making.
- Collaborative Culture: Partner directly with attorneys who appreciate the importance of strong operational support.
- Work-Life Balance: Join a professional environment that values sustainable workloads and mutual respect.
- Long-Term Opportunity: Become an integral part of a respected boutique firm's continued success.
Work Location
This position will primarily support the firm's Johns Island office in the Charleston area, though may be shifting between this office and downtown, as needed.
If you're an experienced office management and bookkeeping professional who takes pride in creating order, improving processes, and supporting a high-performing team, we'd love to connect.
