General Manager and Innkeeper

General Manager and Innkeeper Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in senior hospitality leadership, including lodging and event venue management
• Proven success in business growth and repositioning initiatives
• Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, cost control, and P&L management
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills
• Proficiency with hospitality software such as PMS, POS, and event management tools
• Ability to effectively market through social media, SEO, online advertising, and email campaigns
• Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred
• Passion for historic properties and community involvement
• Physical ability to stand or walk for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs.

General Manager and Innkeeper Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and hands-on management across lodging, events, food and beverage, guest services, and sales
• Develop and execute marketing strategies to attract new guests and increase event bookings, including weddings and community gatherings
• Manage daily operations, including guest room cleaning, grounds maintenance, and preservation of the inn’s historical integrity
• Create seasonal, locally sourced menus and customize celebrations to guest preferences
• Coordinate events by scheduling tours, securing contracts, and working closely with planners, caterers, and staff
• Recruit, train, and manage staff, fostering a guest-focused and collaborative culture with full hiring and firing authority
• Maintain compliance with safety, licensing, and regulatory standards
• Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, supplier relations, and accounts management using QuickBooks
• Drive online reputation management and enhance guest loyalty through personalized service and active social media presence
