Accounting Manager — Entertainment Business Management Firm
Location: Nashville, TN
About the Role
We provide comprehensive financial management services to high-net-worth clients in the entertainment industry, including musicians, actors, athletes, and other public figures. We're seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day bookkeeping, bill pay, and financial reporting for a portfolio of individual and loan-out entity clients, while managing and mentoring a team of staff accountants. This role requires discretion, accuracy, and comfort working with complex, high-volume personal and business finances.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee full-cycle bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients, including personal households, loan-out corporations, and touring/production entities
- Supervise, train, and review the work of staff accountants and bookkeepers
- Review and approve accounts payable processes, including invoice coding, payment scheduling, and high-volume bill pay for personal and business expenses
- Oversee monthly reconciliation of bank, credit card, and investment accounts
- Review and finalize general ledgers, chart of accounts, and financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) for accuracy prior to client/management delivery
- Oversee tracking and categorization of royalty income, touring revenue, endorsement deals, and other entertainment-specific income streams
- Lead budget preparation and cash flow forecasting for clients (tour budgets, production budgets, personal spending plans)
- Serve as primary point of coordination with tax preparers, attorneys, and outside CPAs during tax season and audits
- Oversee 1099 preparation, W-9 tracking, and vendor documentation compliance
- Oversee payroll processing for personal staff (assistants, household staff, tour personnel) where applicable
- Ensure meticulous, audit-ready records given the sensitivity and visibility of client finances
- Serve as a key point of contact for client and management team inquiries regarding account status, spending, and reporting
- Identify process improvements and help standardize procedures across the accounting team
- Uphold strict confidentiality regarding client financial and personal information
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5–8+ years of accounting/bookkeeping experience, including prior supervisory or team-lead experience (public accounting, business management, or family office experience strongly preferred)
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Datafaction/AXIS, or similar business management platforms)
- Strong Excel skills
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Proven ability to manage multiple client accounts, staff, and shifting priorities under deadline pressure
Preferred:
- Experience in entertainment business management, talent agencies, or high-net-worth individual accounting
- CPA
- Familiarity with royalty statements, touring finances, or loan-out corporation structures
- Experience with trust accounting or fiduciary responsibilities
