Kitchen Manager Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations of a restaurant featuring all-day brunch and dinner service
  • Manage inventory, ordering, vendor relationships, and cost control systems to reduce waste and maintain profitability
  • Monitor and manage food cost, labor cost, and operational expenses in alignment with financial goals
  • Lead recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, and development of kitchen staff (line cooks, prep cooks, dishwashers)
  • Partner with culinary leadership on menu development, seasonal updates, and recipe consistency
  • Ensure kitchen equipment is maintained and operational to avoid service disruption

Kitchen Manager Qualifications:

  • 3–7+ years of progressive kitchen leadership experience
  • Proven financial acumen, including food cost, labor management, and budgeting
  • Strong leadership skills with experience developing and coaching kitchen teams
  • Hands-on, visible leadership style with the ability to “own the kitchen” during service
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • BOH foundation strongly preferred (line-level experience earlier in career)
