We are partnering with a growing global organization to identify an experienced Technical Project Manager to join its expanding Technology team in the Chicago western suburbs.
This role will coordinate the delivery of a broad portfolio of Technology initiatives spanning infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, applications, integrations, business solutions, and modernization.
The ideal candidate is a strong Project Manager first, with enough technical depth to understand complex Technology initiatives, ask the right questions, identify risks and dependencies, and communicate effectively with engineers, business stakeholders, and senior leadership.
This person should be highly organized, proactive, adaptable, and comfortable driving accountability across multiple teams in a fast-moving environment.
Technical Project Manager Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, milestones, dependencies, and deliverables.
- Coordinate multiple concurrent Technology projects and workstreams.
- Track project progress, commitments, risks, blockers, and decisions.
- Facilitate effective project meetings and maintain clear action items and ownership.
- Coordinate work across infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, applications, integration, support, and business teams.
- Identify dependencies and risks across Technology initiatives.
- Escalate issues appropriately and drive blockers toward resolution.
- Provide clear project-status reporting to Technology leadership and business stakeholders.
- Translate technical information into clear business language where needed.
- Manage changing scope, timelines, priorities, and stakeholder expectations.
- Coordinate third-party vendors and implementation partners where required.
- Maintain project documentation, risk logs, decision records, and status reporting.
- Support Technology modernization initiatives.
- Collaborate with Technology teams across multiple global regions.
- Help establish practical and repeatable project-management practices that improve delivery without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
Technical Project Manager Qualifications:
- 5+ years of project-management experience, including meaningful experience managing Technology projects.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects or complex workstreams.
- Strong understanding of Technology project environments.
- Ability to work effectively with engineers and technical specialists without needing to be the deepest technical expert.
- Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience identifying and managing project risks, dependencies, and blockers.
- Strong meeting-facilitation and executive-reporting skills.
- Ability to influence and drive accountability without relying solely on formal authority.
- Experience working across infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, applications, integrations, or comparable Technology environments is highly valued.
- Experience with global or geographically distributed teams is beneficial.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
- PMP or other project-management certifications are a plus but are not required.
This is an opportunity to join a growing global Technology organization and play a highly visible role in coordinating initiatives that will directly shape its continued modernization and growth.
