Produce Warehouse Manager

Confidential – Established Premium Food Retailer & Distributor

We are seeking an experienced Produce Warehouse Manager to oversee the receiving, quality, selection, rotation, and outbound operations of a high-volume produce warehouse. This individual will be responsible for maintaining exceptional product standards while driving operational efficiency, labor management, food safety, and inventory accuracy.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in fresh produce and/or cut produce operations, understands USDA grades and standards, and is highly knowledgeable in produce quality, temperature control, rotation, and handling.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily produce receiving and selecting operations, ensuring accurate BOLs and proper documentation.
• Inspect incoming produce for quality, temperature, size, grade, and condition.
• Identify and address mis-rotated product, mis-picks, quality concerns, and inventory issues.
• Conduct regular inspections of produce throughout coolers and refrigerated warehouse areas to ensure proper rotation and product integrity.
• Ensure residual inventory meets established quality, grade, and condition standards.
• Conduct outbound shipping audits to ensure product quality and accuracy before distribution.
• Develop and improve warehouse processes, procedures, and measurable performance standards.
• Manage staffing across shifts while controlling labor costs and minimizing overtime.
• Provide hands-on support to the produce selection team as operational needs require.
• Maintain accurate employee timecards and attendance records through ADP.
• Partner with senior leadership to communicate product quality concerns, operational challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and efficient refrigerated warehouse environment.

Qualifications

• Previous management experience within a produce warehouse, fresh-cut produce operation, food distribution center, commissary, or similar high-volume environment.
• Strong knowledge of fresh produce quality, handling, storage, temperature requirements, and rotation.
• Knowledge of USDA produce grades and standards.
• Experience managing warehouse teams across multiple shifts.
• Strong understanding of labor management, productivity, and operational efficiency.
• Experience with receiving, inventory control, selecting/picking, and shipping operations.
• Hands-on leadership style with the ability to coach teams and establish accountability.
• ADP or similar workforce/timekeeping system experience preferred.
• Experience with fresh-cut or value-added produce operations is highly desirable.
