Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Prep Supervisor with daily prep and batch production to ensure products are completed accurately, safely, and on schedule.
  • Assist with organizing prep assignments based on staffing, production priorities, and deadlines.
  • Help monitor inventory and par levels and communicate potential shortages or production needs to the Prep Supervisor.
  • Support production of batch-prepared items for satellite locations.
  • Monitor production throughout the shift and help adjust assignments and priorities as needed.
  • Ensure recipes, prep procedures, portioning, yields, and production specifications are followed consistently.
  • Conduct quality checks throughout production and communicate any issues to the Prep Supervisor.
  • Monitor products for consistency in taste, texture, appearance, portioning, and overall quality.
  • Ensure proper labeling, dating, storage, rotation, cooling, and handling of prepared foods.
  • Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards.
  • Provide day-to-day direction and coaching to prep team members and help maintain accountability for productivity and quality.
  • Support the Prep Supervisor in maintaining an organized, efficient, and productive work environment.
  • Communicate staffing concerns, production delays, inventory shortages, equipment issues, or quality concerns to the Prep Supervisor.
  • Assist with tracking production and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Work collaboratively with Production, Culinary, Procurement, Distribution, and Operations teams to support daily commissary needs.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in food production, commissary, commercial kitchen, QSR, or high-volume food-service operations.
  • Previous lead, trainer, or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, prep, and batch production.
  • Ability to read and follow standardized recipes and production specifications.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Comfortable providing direction and coaching to team members.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Dependable, hands-on, and willing to work alongside the production team.
  • Ability to identify operational issues and communicate them appropriately to management.
  • Comfortable learning and using inventory, production, scheduling, or reporting systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments.
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules, including evenings and weekends as operationally needed.

Compensation: $44,000–$50,000 annually, based on experience.
