Saw Supervisor Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing, saw, machine shop, material handling, or related production environment
- Ability to lead teams, assign work, set production priorities, and ensure follow-through
- Willingness to learn material movement, steel identification, inventory procedures, and production workflow requirements
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, traceability, and documentation standards
- Clear communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments
Saw Supervisor Preferred Background & Skills
- Supervisory, lead, or coordinator experience in production/manufacturing
- Experience with saw operations, inventory systems, production records, nonconformance follow-up, or equipment such as crane scales
- Ability to coordinate material movement, scrap handling, and cross-department workflows
- Familiarity with reading and understanding production sketches or prints
Saw Supervisor Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Lead, direct, and support saw department employees, including saw operators and material handlers
- Assign daily work, prioritize jobs, and manage workflow for the department
- Coordinate material flow by generating movement lists and directing steel movement
- Ensure completed jobs are accurately transferred to subsequent departments
- Oversee inventory accuracy, track nonconformance reports, and manage saw blade supplies
- Conduct safety meetings, reinforce safe work practices, and maintain housekeeping standards throughout the department
