Maintenance Manager Requirements & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school training preferred
  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, including leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience managing or supervising a maintenance team
  • Working knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and CMMS software
  • Understanding of food safety and GMP requirements
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate across teams

Maintenance Manager Preferred Background & Skills

  • Food, beverage, or CPG manufacturing experience
  • Experience with PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, and industrial electrical systems

Maintenance Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Oversee hands-on repair, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on production equipment
  • Lead, train, and schedule the maintenance team while supporting their development
  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs to minimize unplanned downtime
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues on packaging and production lines
  • Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate with vendors for equipment needs
  • Ensure all equipment and facility elements comply with safety, food safety, and regulatory standards
  • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize impact on production
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work order documentation, and inventory records
  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to align maintenance with production schedules
  • Support capital projects, equipment installations, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Manage the maintenance budget and control repair and parts costs
  • Train production staff on equipment care and basic troubleshooting
