This is a senior field leadership position for someone capable of taking ownership of a project with limited oversight. The Lead Superintendent will be responsible for field execution, safety, scheduling, logistics, quality, trade coordination, and the development of junior field leaders.
The ideal candidate will have extensive NYC construction experience, strong knowledge of multiple trades and MEP systems, and a proven ability to lead complex projects from mobilization through completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of day-to-day field operations and overall project execution
- Lead Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, foremen, and specialty trade partners
- Develop site logistics, sequencing, access, material flow, and manpower plans
- Build, update, and manage the overall construction schedule
- Coordinate multiple trades, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other specialty systems
- Establish and enforce project-specific safety plans and expectations
- Serve as the primary field leader for OSHA, NYCDOB, FDNY, and Local Law 196 compliance
- Coordinate DOB and FDNY inspections, permits, site visits, and resolution of violations
- Lead daily planning, pre-task coordination, and field safety meetings
- Develop and enforce project QA/QC procedures
- Hold subcontractors accountable for workmanship, safety, quality, and schedule commitments
- Review drawings, specifications, submittals, and RFIs for constructability and field coordination
- Work closely with the Project Management team to identify long-lead materials and maintain required-on-job dates
- Review subcontractor scopes and contracts for sequencing, logistics, potential delays, and field impacts
- Participate in owner, architect, consultant, and contractor meetings
- Communicate project status, schedule concerns, and field issues to project leadership
- Manage required daily and monthly project documentation
- Lead inspections, turnover, punch list, deficiency resolution, and project closeout
- Mentor and develop junior Superintendents and Field Engineers
Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive construction field leadership experience
- Strong experience managing complex construction projects in the New York City market
- Demonstrated knowledge of multiple construction trades, including MEP systems
- Experience leading four or more direct reports
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA, NYCDOB, FDNY, and Local Law 196 requirements
- NYCDOB Registration required
- NYC DOB SST Card required
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred
- Ability to independently lead a project and make sound field decisions
- Strong communication skills with owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and internal project leadership
- Proven ability to remain composed and make effective decisions in high-pressure situations
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Commitment to mentoring and developing junior field staff

Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $150,000 – $185,000, depending on experience
