Executive Vice President of Merchandising – Retail

We are seeking an entrepreneurial merchandising executive to help scale a rapidly growing specialty retail business. This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on retail leader who has helped build a startup, founder-led, or high-growth organization and knows how to create the teams, processes, systems, and merchandising disciplines needed for the next stage of growth.

Executive Vice President of Merchandising Benefits and Compensation:

·      $225,000-$250,000 base salary

·      Equity participation opportunity, structure TBD

·      Executive incentive plan planned for 2027

·      Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits

·      Paid time off

·      Hybrid schedule, Monday-Thursday in office and Friday remote

·      Direct partnership with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team

·      Significant influence over future retail expansion and company strategy

Executive Vice President of Merchandising Requirements & Qualifications:

·      15+ years of progressive retail merchandising, buying, planning, inventory, or commercial leadership experience

·      Retail startup, founder-led, entrepreneurial, or high-growth company experience

·      Proven experience helping scale a multi-location retail organization

·      Strong understanding of stores, customers, assortment, inventory, pricing, margin, and vendor management

·      Demonstrated success building merchandising teams, processes, KPIs, and operating disciplines

·      Experience owning revenue, gross margin, and inventory performance

·      Multi-channel experience across brick-and-mortar retail and ecommerce

·      Ability to develop long-term merchandising strategy while remaining actively involved in day-to-day execution

·      Comfortable operating with limited resources, changing priorities, and evolving infrastructure

Must Haves:

·      Retail startup or high-growth scaling experience

·      Strong multi-unit retail merchandising leadership

·      Builder + operator mentality

·      Hands-on buying, assortment, pricing, inventory, and vendor experience

·      Experience personally building teams and developing leaders

·      Proven success creating scalable processes and accountability

·      Ability to operate effectively in an entrepreneurial environment

Executive Vice President of Merchandising Preferred Background & Skills:

·      Experience scaling a specialty, regional, emerging, or founder-led retailer

·      New store, market, or geographic expansion experience

·      Experience implementing merchandising planning and inventory systems

·      Specialty retail, sporting goods, gaming, hobby, entertainment, consumer products, or enthusiast-driven retail experience

·      Collectibles or trading card industry experience is helpful but not required

·      Experience developing exclusive, proprietary, or differentiated product offerings

·      Strong vendor negotiation and strategic sourcing experience
