Shipping Manager
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Shipping Manager to oversee transportation, warehouse, freezer, and shipping operations. This role ensures efficient product movement, inventory accuracy, regulatory compliance, food safety, and exceptional customer service while leading a high-performing team in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead all shipping, warehouse, freezer, and transportation operations
- Ensure compliance with safety, GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards
- Coordinate daily operations with Production, Purchasing, Quality, and Plant Leadership
- Schedule carrier pickups and customer deliveries
- Supervise shipping staff, monitor performance, and assist with hiring and training
- Maintain inventory accuracy, FIFO practices, and monthly physical inventories
- Manage pallet inventory, fleet maintenance, and shipping equipment
- Coordinate product holds, recalls, and inventory tracking with Quality Assurance
- Maintain a clean, organized, audit-ready operation
- Provide hands-on support during peak production, staffing shortages, or emergencies
- Operate forklifts, make deliveries when needed, and assist with basic equipment troubleshooting
- Be available outside normal business hours for urgent operational needs
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
- 3+ years of leadership experience in shipping, warehouse, logistics, or distribution
- Food manufacturing or cold storage experience preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience with inventory control, shipping documentation, and warehouse systems
- Forklift experience required
- Ability to work in freezer environments and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Flexible schedule, including overtime and occasional weekends
