Consumer Collections / Creditors' Rights Attorney Requirements & Qualifications
- Active New Jersey Bar admission
- Experience in consumer debt collection, creditors’ rights, mortgage foreclosure, or related financial services litigation
- Comfortable managing a high-volume caseload and meeting court and client deadlines
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to adapt to evolving client needs, legal requirements, and court procedures
- Collaborative, team-focused work style with a hands-on approach
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Consumer Collections / Creditors' Rights Attorney Preferred Background & Skills
- Experience with consumer mortgage foreclosure work
- Representation of financial institutions or mortgage servicers
- Negotiation of settlements by phone
- Supervising or mentoring paralegals and staff
- Proficiency with legal technology and client-facing portals, such as Black Knight (LPS/BKFS)
Consumer Collections / Creditors' Rights Attorney Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Manage consumer collections and creditors’ rights cases from referral through resolution
- Negotiate settlements directly with debtors and opposing counsel
- Draft and review pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and related legal documents
- Appear in court for hearings and contested matters
- Oversee paralegal work, providing review and guidance throughout the litigation process
- Communicate regularly with banks, lenders, and mortgage servicers regarding case strategy and status
- Ensure files move efficiently and all client, court, and internal deadlines are met
- Assist with complex litigation issues as needed
