We are seeking a Division Manager to lead and grow an established mechanical-piping contracting division. This executive will be accountable for financial performance, operational execution, customer relationships, business development, and leadership development.

This is more than an operations or senior project-management role. The Division Manager is responsible for the long-term success of the business unit, overseeing estimating, project management, field operations, safety, growth, and financial results while developing the organization’s next generation of leaders.

Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate has successfully led teams, managed a profit center, developed employees, built lasting customer relationships, and consistently delivered strong financial results.

The primary responsibility is not managing individual projects—it is building an organization that executes projects successfully and profitably.

Primary Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Lead and develop Project Managers, Estimators, and Field Operations teams.
  • Create a culture of accountability, collaboration, professionalism, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead by example and communicate openly.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop top talent.
  • Mentor future leaders and establish succession plans throughout the division.

Financial Management

Take ownership of the division’s:

  • Revenue and net profit.
  • Cash flow and forecast accuracy.
  • Budget development and management.
  • Backlog management.

Understand every major financial driver and make proactive, data-informed decisions.

Operational Excellence

Provide executive oversight of:

  • Estimating and project management.
  • Field operations and labor productivity.
  • Scheduling and procurement.
  • Quality and safety.
  • Change management.

Ensure projects are properly staffed, monitored, and positioned for successful execution.

Customer Development

  • Maintain executive-level relationships with owners, General Contractors, engineers, developers, and industrial clients.
  • Generate repeat business through exceptional service and trusted partnerships.

Strategic Growth

Develop and execute strategies to:

  • Expand market share and enter new markets.
  • Improve operational efficiency.
  • Increase profitability.
  • Strengthen the division’s competitive position.

Required Experience

Candidates should possess:

  • 15+ years of experience in mechanical contracting, industrial piping, plumbing, or hydronics.
  • 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience.
  • Experience leading multiple Project Managers or department managers.
  • Experience managing annual revenue of $10 million or more.
  • Full P&L responsibility preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of estimating, project management, field operations, scheduling, procurement, and safety.
  • A proven record of developing employees into leadership roles.

Technical Competencies

Candidates should demonstrate strong knowledge of:

  • Mechanical piping systems.
  • Industrial and commercial construction.
  • Contract administration and change-order management.
  • Labor planning and cost control.
  • Financial forecasting and budget management.
  • Safety programs and lean construction principles.
  • Microsoft Office and ERP/project-management software.
