Join our team as the Senior Technical Trainer and Curriculum Developer and take full ownership of technical training design and delivery across a portfolio of vehicle systems and emerging EV technologies. Reporting to the Blue Bird Academy leadership team, you will develop, organize, and deliver training programs that equip dealer technicians with the diagnostic and service skills they need, and set the standard for how technical knowledge is built and transferred across the dealer network.

This role is ideal for a seasoned automotive technical trainer who has deep hands-on field service experience, a strong command of low- and high-voltage electrical diagnostics, and a track record of building curriculum that actually changes technician performance — and who wants to own a high-visibility training function with a stable, mission-driven manufacturer in the student transportation space.

Senior Technical Trainer and Curriculum Developer | What You Will Do

  • Develop comprehensive training curriculum including Instructor's Guides, Workbooks, Presentations, and post-training resources for dealer technicians
  • Lead technical content collection and development across online and in-person training formats
  • Advise and collaborate with instructional designers on content asset collection and course structure
  • Organize and deliver in-person training sessions and remote webinar-based training programs
  • Monitor field service ticket trends and engineering updates to keep training curricula current and accurate
  • Collaborate with Field Service Engineering to validate content accuracy and relevance before deployment
  • Assess training effectiveness using performance metrics and technician feedback, and modify programs accordingly
  • Provide technical mentorship and support to trainees during and after program completion

Senior Technical Trainer and Curriculum Developer | What You Bring

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience as an automotive Field Service Engineer or Field Service Technician
  • 5+ years of experience as a Technical Trainer, preferably in the automotive or heavy vehicle industry
  • 3+ years of curriculum development experience for technical training programs
  • High-level proficiency in low- and high-voltage electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics
  • Proficiency in instructional design principles and Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Experience with CAN bus diagnostics including J1939 and OBD2 (preferred)
  • Electric or alternatively-powered vehicle experience (preferred)
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status required

Senior Technical Trainer and Curriculum Developer | The Perks

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401k with company matching
  • 14 paid holidays plus vacation time
  • Continued professional development support
