We're looking for an experienced, hands-on Operations Manager to help drive the next phase of growth for a well-established commercial paving and construction company. This role requires someone who has come up through the field, understands paving operations firsthand, and has progressed into managing multiple crews and the broader business operation. The right person will be equally comfortable reviewing budgets and schedules in the office as they are stepping into the field, solving problems, and working alongside crews when needed. If you bring deep paving experience along with strong operational, financial, and people leadership skills, we'd love to speak with you.

Operations Manager Benefits

  • Company vehicle
  • Health insurance for employee and family
  • 401(k) with company match

  • Long-term advancement potential into senior operational leadership

Operations Manager Responsibilities

  • Lead daily paving and field operations across multiple crews and concurrent projects
  • Manage foremen, supervisors, and field personnel while driving accountability and performance
  • Oversee manpower planning, scheduling, equipment allocation, materials, and logistics
  • Coordinate with estimators, vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, and customers
  • Monitor job costs, productivity, budgets, and operational performance
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, profitably, and on schedule
  • Support hiring, training, coaching, development, and performance management of field teams
  • Maintain strong communication between field operations, estimating, and office leadership
  • Manage operational challenges, scheduling changes, equipment issues, and change orders
  • Identify and implement processes that improve productivity, efficiency, and profitability
  • Maintain a strong field presence and be willing and able to work alongside crews and operate equipment when necessary
  • Partner directly with ownership on business planning, operational improvements, and future growth

Operations Manager Requirements

  • Direct asphalt paving experience is required
  • Hands-on field experience with a strong understanding of paving operations, equipment, materials, production, and crew execution
  • Must have progressed beyond a Foreman-level role into broader operational leadership
  • Proven experience managing multiple paving crews simultaneously, ideally 3–4 or more during peak season
  • Experience managing foremen/supervisors as well as field personnel
  • Experience with estimating, scheduling, job costing, budgets, forecasting, and P&L responsibility
  • Strong understanding of equipment utilization, maintenance, manpower planning, and project coordination
  • Demonstrated ability to develop field leaders, build accountability, and improve operational performance
  • Must be comfortable balancing office responsibilities with significant field presence and hands-on involvement
  • Ability and willingness to operate paving and construction equipment when needed
  • College degree or additional post-secondary education preferred
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Spanish-speaking ability is a plus
  • Entrepreneurial, growth-minded leader who wants to work closely with ownership and make a significant impact on the future of the business
