Are you an established Intellectual Property Law Partner, solo practitioner, or boutique IP firm owner looking for a larger platform to grow your practice without giving up the independence you've built?

A growing, entrepreneurial law firm is seeking established Intellectual Property Partners and attorneys with portable books of business who are interested in joining forces with a firm that offers the infrastructure, resources, and business development support to take their practice to the next level.

This opportunity is particularly attractive to solo practitioners, boutique IP firm owners, and partners who have built successful intellectual property practices but want to spend less time managing the business of law and more time protecting their clients' intellectual property, developing relationships, and generating revenue.

Whether you're considering a lateral move, transitioning your solo practice, or exploring a potential merger for your small firm, this platform offers the flexibility, autonomy, and financial upside to make your next chapter even more successful.

Intellectual Property Law Partner | Benefits & Compensation

  • Highly competitive, revenue-driven partner compensation structure based on portable business, collections, and practice contribution
  • Opportunity to transition an existing IP practice or explore a potential small firm merger
  • Retain significant autonomy over your clients, practice, and business development
  • Established infrastructure, administrative support, and operational resources
  • Dedicated marketing, branding, and business development support to help expand your book of business
  • Access to a broader network of attorneys and complementary practice areas for cross-referrals
  • Opportunity to grow your intellectual property practice without the overhead and administrative responsibilities of running your own firm
  • Entrepreneurial, collaborative culture without unnecessary bureaucracy
  • Long-term opportunity to build and lead an expanding Intellectual Property practice

Intellectual Property Law Partner | Requirements & Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • Significant experience in intellectual property law, including one or more areas of trademark, copyright, patent, trade secret, licensing, or IP litigation
  • Established intellectual property practice with a transferable book of business, ideally $350K+ annually
  • Current law firm partner, solo practitioner, boutique firm owner, or senior attorney with an established client base
  • Experience representing businesses, entrepreneurs, technology companies, brand owners, investors, or other clients with significant intellectual property needs
  • Demonstrated ability to originate business and maintain long-standing client relationships
  • Ability to independently manage sophisticated intellectual property matters and provide strategic legal counsel
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in expanding an established practice
  • Open to exploring a lateral partnership, practice integration, or potential small firm merger

Intellectual Property Law Partner | Preferred Background & Skills

  • Established relationships with technology companies, startups, media and entertainment businesses, consumer brands, manufacturers, or other IP-driven organizations
  • Experience advising clients on intellectual property protection, portfolio management, licensing, enforcement, and commercialization
  • Strong background in trademark prosecution, copyright registration, trade secret protection, patent matters, or intellectual property litigation
  • Experience handling complex licensing agreements, technology transactions, brand protection strategies, and IP-related disputes
  • Background with an IP boutique, AmLaw firm, mid-sized business law firm, or independently operated practice
  • Experience operating a solo practice, managing a boutique IP firm, or leading an intellectual property practice group
  • Interest in leveraging a larger firm's resources to expand an existing client base
  • Ability to identify cross-selling opportunities involving corporate transactions, commercial litigation, employment, franchise, and other complementary practice areas
  • Experience mentoring or managing associates is a plus

Intellectual Property Law Partner | Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Transition and continue managing your existing intellectual property practice within a larger, supportive platform
  • Maintain and expand relationships with your established clients while developing new business opportunities
  • Advise businesses, entrepreneurs, technology companies, brand owners, and investors on intellectual property protection, enforcement, and commercialization
  • Oversee trademark, copyright, patent, trade secret, licensing, or IP litigation matters within your area of expertise
  • Develop and implement intellectual property strategies that support clients' business objectives
  • Draft, review, and negotiate licensing agreements, technology agreements, IP assignments, confidentiality agreements, and related commercial contracts
  • Manage intellectual property portfolios, including trademark and copyright registration, enforcement, and risk management
  • Counsel clients on protecting intellectual property assets during mergers, acquisitions, financings, and other business transactions
  • Collaborate with attorneys across complementary practice areas to provide comprehensive legal services and create additional opportunities for clients
  • Leverage the firm's marketing, operational, and business development resources to grow your practice
  • Help shape the continued expansion of the firm's Intellectual Property practice

Ready to Grow Your Intellectual Property Practice Without Building Everything Yourself?

You've spent years building your reputation, developing relationships with businesses and brand owners, and establishing a successful intellectual property practice. The next step shouldn't mean starting over.

Whether you're a partner considering a lateral move, a solo practitioner looking to eliminate overhead, or a boutique IP firm owner exploring a merger, this could be an opportunity to grow your business while maintaining the independence and client relationships that made you successful.

This is an opportunity to bring the practice you've built to a platform that can help you take it further.

All inquiries and conversations will be handled with the utmost confidentiality.
