Executive Chef — Modern Chinese

A contemporary Hong Kong kitchen located in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced Executive Chef to lead culinary operations for one of the city’s most respected modern Chinese restaurants.

Recognized by the MICHELIN Guide and known for its creative interpretations of Hong Kong street food, dim sum, and classic Chinese cuisine. This is a leadership opportunity for a chef with deep expertise in modern Chinese and Cantonese cuisine, strong operational discipline, and the ability to balance creativity with financial performance.

What We’re Looking For

  • Extensive experience in modern Chinese / Cantonese cuisine
  • Strong understanding of Hong Kong culinary traditions and techniques
  • Mandarin or Cantonese language skills strongly preferred
  • Experience living, training, or working in Hong Kong highly valued
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing kitchen teams
  • Passion for dim sum, wok cookery, and family-style dining concepts
  • Ability to maintain consistency in a high-standards, hospitality-driven environment

Operational & Leadership Expectations

  • Full ownership of kitchen operations, standards, and culinary direction
  • Strong command of P&L management, COGS control, labor management, and inventory systems
  • Menu development aligned with modern Hong Kong identity
  • Oversight of sourcing, vendor relationships, and cost optimization
  • Training and mentoring BOH leadership and culinary staff
  • Collaboration with ownership and leadership on strategic growth initiatives
