Assistant Project Manager – T&D / Substation Infrastructure
Location: Richmond, VA
A growing infrastructure consulting and project management organization is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support large-scale Transmission & Distribution (T&D) and Substation infrastructure projects for major utility clients.
This organization partners with electric utilities and engineering firms to support critical infrastructure modernization programs involving substations, feeder upgrades, transmission systems, distribution improvements, utility construction, and capital project execution. The company offers strong long-term growth potential within the utility infrastructure industry and exposure to high-profile utility projects across the full project lifecycle.
This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with early-career utility infrastructure experience looking to grow into a long-term Project Management role supporting complex utility capital programs.

Key Responsibilities
• Support Project Managers across Transmission, Distribution, and Substation infrastructure projects from development through construction closeout
• Assist with scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, accrual tracking, and project controls activities
• Coordinate engineering, permitting, procurement, construction, and utility stakeholder activities
• Support field execution, contractor coordination, and construction management activities
• Track project milestones, risks, procurement items, project documentation, and schedule updates
• Maintain communication between utility clients, engineers, contractors, field teams, and internal stakeholders
• Assist with reporting related to project progress, cost metrics, scheduling, procurement, and field activities
Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management REQUIRED
• 1–4 years of experience supporting utility infrastructure, T&D, or substation projects
• MUST have exposure to Transmission & Distribution (T&D) and/or Substation infrastructure projects
• Experience supporting project schedules, budgeting, forecasting, project controls, or construction coordination
• Exposure to utility construction, engineering coordination, permitting, procurement, or field execution activities
• Experience with MS Project, Primavera P6, Excel, or related project management tools preferred
• Strong communication, organizational, and coordination skills
