Restaurant General Manager Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of restaurant management experience preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and people skills
  • Solid understanding of food safety, labor management, and cost controls
  • Ability to thrive in a high-volume environment with a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and game days

Restaurant General Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop the management team and hourly staff, fostering a positive, team-oriented work culture
  • Drive all aspects of daily operations to ensure smooth, efficient, and consistent service
  • Maintain high standards for food quality, cleanliness, and overall guest experience
  • Monitor financial performance, manage labor and food costs, and execute action plans for improvement
  • Resolve guest concerns professionally and build relationships in the local community
  • Oversee hiring, training, scheduling, and ongoing team development
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, cash handling, and company policies
