Operations Manager | Low Voltage / Network Services

Location: DFW, Texas

Job Summary

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations and driving growth for a low-voltage contracting business specializing in installation, DC power, structured cabling, physical security, and audio visual systems. This role provides leadership across field operations, project execution, staffing, customer service, and process improvement to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, profitably, and with a high level of quality.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong operational, technical, and business development experience in the low-voltage industry. This person will work closely with leadership to expand market presence, improve internal systems, strengthen client relationships, and support long-term company growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operations across low-voltage installation, DC power, structured cabling, physical security, and audio visual projects.
  • Oversee project execution from handoff through completion, ensuring schedule, budget, quality, and customer expectations are met.
  • Supervise and support project managers, field technicians, foremen, and other operational staff.
  • Coordinate labor planning, resource allocation, and manpower forecasting to support active and upcoming projects.
  • Develop and implement operational processes that improve efficiency, consistency, and profitability.
  • Monitor project financial performance, labor productivity, job costs, and overall operational margins.
  • Support estimating, preconstruction, and sales efforts to help secure new work and expand existing client relationships.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, owners, end users, vendors, and strategic partners.
  • Identify opportunities to grow the business in key market segments, including structured cabling, security, AV, and DC power infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, industry regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Review and assist with contract scopes, change orders, procurement, and project turnover activities.
  • Resolve operational issues, customer concerns, manpower gaps, and project risks in a timely and professional manner.
  • Track key performance metrics and provide regular reporting to ownership or executive leadership.
  • Lead internal meetings, communicate priorities, and support accountability across the organization.
  • Assist in hiring, training, mentoring, and retaining top field and office talent.
  • Drive continuous improvement across operations, service delivery, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in low-voltage, telecom, electrical, or related construction operations.
  • 3+ years of leadership or management experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of structured cabling, DC power, physical security, and audio visual systems.
  • Proven experience overseeing installation teams and project execution.
  • Experience with operational growth, process improvement, and team development.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, margins, and project performance.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and customer relationship skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and project documents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software.
  • Ability to travel to job sites throughout the DFW area as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working for a low-voltage contractor or systems integrator.
  • Knowledge of access control, CCTV, intrusion, structured cabling, DAS, and audio visual systems.
  • Familiarity with estimating, project management, and field operations workflows.
  • Experience scaling a department or division within a growing company.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in office and field environments.
  • Occasional lifting of equipment and materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to visit active job sites, customer locations, and operational facilities.
  • Regular use of computers, phones, and other business equipment.
