Electrical Field Operations Manager
Growing Mid-Sized Commercial Electrical Contractor – South Florida
Position Overview
The Electrical Field Operations Manager is responsible for leading all field activities across multiple commercial projects, ensuring safe, profitable, and high-quality execution in line with company standards and client expectations. This role oversees field supervision, purchasing, labor planning, production control, and implementation of best practices to support growth in the South Florida market.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop field leadership (general foremen, foremen, and lead electricians) across multiple commercial projects.
- Plan and allocate manpower, tools, and equipment to meet schedule, budget, and productivity targets for all active jobs.
- Implement and manage field production tracking, labor performance metrics, and corrective action plans where needed.
- Partner with project managers and preconstruction to review budgets, schedules, and constructability, providing input on manpower loading and means and methods.
- Ensure strict adherence to company safety program, OSHA requirements, and all applicable codes and standards on every jobsite.
- Drive quality control in the field, enforcing installation standards, inspection readiness, and compliance with project specifications.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, support field leadership, and maintain strong relationships with clients, GCs, and trade partners.
- Support project startup and closeout, including preconstruction meetings, site logistics planning, punchlist, and turnover.
- Standardize field processes, prefabrication utilization, material handling, and tool management to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and retention of field personnel in a competitive South Florida labor market.
- Participate in business planning by providing feedback on field capacity, staffing needs, and operational risks.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in commercial electrical construction, including significant field leadership (General Foreman, Superintendent, or similar).
- Proven track record managing multiple projects and large field crews in a mid-sized or larger electrical contracting environment.
- Strong knowledge of commercial electrical systems, installation practices, and relevant codes and standards.
- Demonstrated ability to drive safety, quality, productivity, and schedule performance across multiple jobsites.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to coach, hold teams accountable, and build a strong field culture.
- Proficiency with construction scheduling and basic project management tools; familiarity with production tracking systems is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly to jobsites throughout South Florida.
