Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Marine, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent industry experience)
  • 5–15+ years of electrical engineering experience in commercial maritime or military environments
  • Strong knowledge of ABS and Coast Guard regulations
  • Experience with AutoCAD (2D/3D) and Ship Constructor software
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and analytical skills

Must Haves:

  • Develop and revise electrical schematics, equipment layouts, and arrangement drawings for vessel systems
  • Lead coordination between engineering, production, and external vendors to ensure design feasibility and execution
  • Break down electrical systems into production-ready modules and build strategies
  • Review and approve vendor drawings while ensuring alignment with project timelines
  • Interpret and validate complex electrical systems including power distribution, control systems, and alarm/monitoring systems
  • Support production teams with real-time field troubleshooting and technical guidance during installation
  • Evaluate and approve purchase orders for major electrical components and systems
  • Ensure all designs align with shipbuilding best practices and regulatory requirements

Preferred Background & Skills:

  • Experience with vessel electrical systems, including power control, AC drives, motors, and transformers
  • Familiarity with navigation systems, bridge controls, and machinery monitoring systems
  • Experience with cable run sheets, penetration design, and one-line diagrams
  • Background working with shipyards or marine-focused engineering teams
  • Strong project coordination or leadership experience across multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
