Do you enjoy figuring out how machines work, solving mechanical problems, and building equipment from the ground up? We're hiring a Machine Builder to join a growing custom equipment manufacturer in Fort Wayne.

This isn't repetitive production assembly. You'll build specialized industrial automation equipment from initial assembly through final testing, working alongside mechanical and controls engineers. You'll have the opportunity to develop new skills, tackle different projects, and see the machines you've built put to work at customer facilities.

We're open to candidates with backgrounds in mechanical assembly, industrial maintenance, or machine rebuilding. Previous custom automation experience is a plus, but strong mechanical ability and a willingness to learn are what matter most.

Machine Builder Benefits and Compensation:

  • $25–$35 per hour, based on experience
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) option
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid vacation and holidays
  • Employee assistance program
  • Additional compensation opportunities during customer installations
  • Hands-on training and professional development
  • Small, collaborative team with opportunities for growth

Machine Builder Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience in mechanical assembly, industrial maintenance, machine rebuilding, or industrial equipment installation
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings or learn technical schematics through hands-on training
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work independently while collaborating with engineering teams

Must Haves:

  • Assemble and align mechanical components, including precision assemblies with tight tolerances
  • Identify and resolve mechanical problems during equipment assembly, testing, and machine debugging
  • Install mechanical components and develop proficiency in electrical machine wiring, including sensors and control panels
  • Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, with training available for candidates who have strong mechanical experience
  • Participate in complete machine builds, from initial assembly through final run-off and functional testing
  • Willingness to travel approximately 20% for customer installations, including occasional international travel

Machine Builder Preferred Background & Skills:

  • 2+ years of mechanical assembly, machine-building, or related industrial equipment experience
  • Background in custom machinery, industrial automation, or special-purpose equipment
  • Experience with electrical panel wiring, electrical schematics, and basic electrical troubleshooting
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic plumbing, precision alignment, or equipment debugging
  • Familiarity with HMI operation, welding, fabrication, or machining

Additional Information:

This position does not include relocation assistance. Candidates must live within commuting distance of the worksite in Fort Wayne, IN (46809).
