Electrical Project Executive, Hyperscale Data Center Construction
Location: Remote, Southeast U.S. (multiple states; flexible within regional markets) 50% Travel expectations
Employment type: Full time
Industry: Mission-critical and hyperscale data center electrical construction
About the Company
Our client is a growing electrical contractor that builds large industrial, mission-critical and hyperscale data center projects across the Southeast. The company has a strong field execution culture and puts safety, quality and its people first. Demand for data center capacity keeps rising, so the company is adding leaders to its mission-critical division who can deliver consistent, repeatable results across large, multi-phase programs.
Position Summary
This is an executive-level role, not a traditional project management position. The Project Executive will lead a portfolio of large, technically complex data center projects. That means getting multiple project teams to work from one execution strategy and owning financial and operational results at every stage of the program.
The right candidate brings:
- Executive presence with hyperscale clients
- Enough technical depth to guide project teams
- A strategic approach to building scalable processes, systems and teams
This role is central to the company's long-term growth in mission-critical work.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership
- Lead multi-building or multi-phase hyperscale data center programs from preconstruction through commissioning and turnover.
- Create standard processes, deliverables and execution tools so results are consistent across regions and project teams.
- Spot program risks early, including long-lead procurement, labor shortages and design coordination issues, and put plans in place to address them.
Financial and Commercial Management
- Own program financial performance: budgets, forecasts, contingency, margin and cost-to-complete.
- Direct procurement strategy for commodities and long-lead equipment, including switchgear, UPS/ESS, busway, cable, conduit and prefabricated assemblies.
- Secure favorable contract terms, a steady billing schedule and positive cash flow for the life of the program.
- Run a disciplined change management process and keep exposure items and margin drivers clearly visible.
Client Relationships
- Act as the company's executive contact for hyperscale owners, general contractors, engineering firms and key trade partners.
- Lead program reporting, presentations and milestone reviews that are clear, transparent and focused on solutions.
- Build long-term client relationships through performance, responsiveness and technical expertise.
Operations
- Help project teams with planning, staffing, scheduling, productivity tracking and resource allocation.
- Keep schedules on track by overseeing critical-path work, material release plans, prefabrication strategy and commissioning readiness.
- Set high standards for safety, quality control, lockout/tagout (LOTO), testing, energization and turnover.
Team Leadership and Development
- Mentor project managers, superintendents, coordinators and emerging leaders in the mission-critical division.
- Build a culture of accountability, planning ahead and continuous improvement.
- Help the division grow by taking part in recruiting, onboarding and team development.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in large commercial, industrial or mission-critical electrical construction.
- A proven record delivering hyperscale or large mission-critical programs of $50M to $150M+ each, beyond stand-alone projects.
- Strong financial skills, including forecasting, buyout, margin management and contract terms.
- Deep knowledge of mission-critical electrical systems, including redundant distribution, UPS/ESS, grounding, controls and commissioning.
- Experience leading multiple project teams across different sites or regions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to present to executives and clients.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
What's Offered
- The chance to lead major hyperscale data center programs and help shape a growing mission-critical business.
- A high-performance team with strong field support and aligned leadership.
- Competitive executive pay, performance incentives and a full benefits package.
- A growth-focused culture where your leadership directly affects strategy, talent development and the company's direction.
