Your firm's percentage comes with a ceiling and someone else's name on your clients.

You know the drill. You hit the quota, and the quota starts over. The split tops out no matter how much you bill. And the clients you've spent years winning are listed under your firm's name, not yours. Leave, and they stay.

The recruiters who joined Goodwin kept doing what they already knew how to do. What changed was the structure around them. Instead of producing inside someone else’s business, they started running their own, with the Goodwin platform behind them. This time, the success they create directly impacts the business they’re building, and the earnings that come with it.

Recruiters who made the move.

Many of Goodwin’s 300+ Partners recruited at traditional firms before making the move. Here’s what they say about building a recruiting business of their own.

"You're in business by yourself but not for yourself."

Miguel S. · Partner · Hospitality Operations · 7 months · 21 years at a major fast food chain

"It is an amazing opportunity to build and grow your recruiting skillset and business with the best tools and training I have seen throughout my 10 years of recruiting for a few different agencies. I would also be realistic that you get what you put into it of course, and that motivation, self-discipline, and reaching out for help is key to having success."

Chase T. · Partner · Construction · 1+ year

"As a Goodwin Partner of 2 years, I would tell them that Goodwin is THE place to be if recruiting is what they love. There are always jobs to work on, and the relationships, internal and external, are rewarding. The support during the tough and dry spells of business is enormous. The tools and technology are in abundance."

Yugma R. · Partner · Manufacturing · 2+ years

What your firm's structure actually costs you.

You'd be doing the same recruiting you do today. The difference is how
much of it ends up yours.

Income Ceiling

The ceiling on your split.

Your percentage was set before you arrived, and it tops out no matter how much you produce. At Goodwin, your income has no ceiling: it's tied to what you build, with enhanced commissions and year-end kickers.

Book of Business

The book that isn't yours

You win the client, build the relationship, and make the placements, but the value belongs to the agency. At Goodwin, that same effort builds your own business, and the clients you win keep coming back to you.

Career Title

The title that isn't equity

A bigger title can mean more responsibility without changing what you own. At Goodwin, growth isn't another rung on someone else's ladder. It's growth in your own business.

A split pays you for the placement. A book pays you for the relationship, because the clients you
win keep coming back, and now they come back to you.

Your skills transfer on day one, and the only thing you build from scratch is a book that finally belongs to you.

What's yours, what's funded, and how you get paid.

The part most opportunities won't tell you.

This is a commission-based business. No salary. No benefits. You own the outcome.

Plan on four to six months to your first dollar and real effort from day one; the first six months take a full commitment. Building consistent income takes longer, and your ramp will depend on your market, your activity, and your execution. The info session walks through the economics and ramp in details so you can plan for it before you make a decision. We say this up front because partners tell us the honesty is why they trusted everything else.

From a partner who recruited at agencies before Goodwin:

"They said it's going to be six months before you see a dollar, and I could not fault them on that."

Clayton C. · Partner · Engineering · 1+ year

We know what that means for you: you're walking away from a base or a draw, and your firm's book stays behind. The gap is the scariest part, and partners say the way through is planning for it, not pretending it away. What you bring is the skill. What you rebuild is the book, and this time it belongs to you.

Who thrives here

Self-starters. Disciplined, consistent, resilient people who treat this like the business it is.

What de-risks it

You are not paying to start a business. There is no buy-in, and Goodwin invests roughly $32K a year in every partner from day one.

The flip side

No base also means no ceiling. There's no limit to what you can make.

"It's the best career move I've made, but I'd also tell them it's not easy. You're building your own business, and nobody's going to hand it to you. There are definitely days when you question yourself, especially in the beginning, but if you're willing to put in the work, it's absolutely worth it."

Cassandra W. · Partner · Manufacturing · 2+ years

What partners say they came for.

The freedom is real. So is the trade.

We surveyed our partners: 90% named freedom as a reason they joined, and nearly half called it their single biggest reason. Not fewer hours. Their hours: which days, which clients, which verticals, and who they answer to.

In practice it looks like this: a business you run from anywhere, in the industry you already know, built around your strengths, and scaled to your own ambition. Nobody assigns your accounts, sets your quota, or decides what your year looks like. You do.

"I love the flexibility and freedom that comes with making my own schedule. Having control over my time and being able to structure my day around what works best for me has been a huge benefit."

Jeff T. · Partner · Hospitality Operations · 3+ years

It comes with a trade: no salary, no safety net, and an income ramp measured in months. Partners describe it as hard and worth it, usually in the same sentence.

When we surveyed our partners on what it's really like, across 60,000 words of answers, the most-used word: Support.

Mentorship, training, a network of 300+ partners who share leads and split searches, and a culture partners consistently describe as collaborative rather than cutthroat.

"I would tell them that Goodwin gives you the opportunity to truly build your own business, but you are never building it alone. You have the independence of being an entrepreneur while having the support, training, technology, and resources of an established recruiting firm behind you. The culture has been one of the biggest surprises for me, in the best way. People genuinely want to help each other succeed, share ideas, and celebrate wins rather than compete against one another."

Jessica J. · Partner · Legal · under 1 year

"It is collaboration, not a competition, at Goodwin Recruiting. Partnering with Goodwin gives you the opportunity to build your own business while never feeling like you're building it alone."

Stacey B. · Partner · Healthcare · 10+ years

"I am a former chef, and this was not as easy as I thought it was going to be. But anything worth it, never is. This has been the best professional decision I have made."

The questions agency recruiters ask. Answered straight.

Why would I give up a base for 100% commission?

Because the percentage is only part of the math. One partner ran his own recruiting business for 13 years, topping out at $350K annually. On the Goodwin platform, he now regularly bills more than $100K a month. The info session walks through the split math in full so you can run it against your own desk.

Can I bring my clients with me?

That depends on your agreements with your firm, and we would never ask you to break them. What transfers cleanly is everything else: the skill, the vertical fluency, and the craft of winning clients, which is how you built the last book and how you'll build this one. The difference is that this one is yours.

So there's no paycheck while I ramp up?

Correct. Plan on four to five months to the first dollar. But you're not ramping alone or from scratch: there's no buy-in, and Goodwin invests roughly $32K a year in every partner, in training, mentorship, proven systems, and an active job board you can start working from day one. All of it exists to shorten the road to that first dollar.

Won't I be competing with 300+ other partners?

The network isn't your competition. It's the first call you make when you're stuck. Partners here share leads, split searches, and celebrate each other's wins, and the rules of engagement protect the book you build, between you and every other partner. If you're used to a floor where the next desk is your rival, this is built as the opposite.

Is this an MLM?

No. This is a recruiting business, and Partners generate revenue by making successful placements for their clients, not by recruiting other Partners into Goodwin or building out a team beneath them. 127 partner put their names on their words, 37 volunteered to say it on camera, and the company has done this for 27 years.

So how much can I actually earn?

It depends on what you build, and that's the honest answer. There's no salary and no company-set earning cap. Your production determines your income. The info session walks through the economics, placement fees, commission structure, and real ramp scenarios so you can run the numbers for yourself.

Still have questions? Bring them. The session is live for a reason.

Build a Recruiting Business with Goodwin
Founder - Eric Goodwin

27 years of doing what we say.

In 1999, founder Eric Goodwin was a restaurateur with a knack for hiring great people, so much so that other businesses kept asking him to find theirs. When he turned that into a company, he made two things non-negotiable: relationships and integrity. Do what you say. Treat every client, candidate, and partner as a relationship, not a transaction.

His vision went beyond building a recruiting firm. He wanted to build a company where people could create something of their own, with more control over their leives and the opportunity to benefit directly from the success they created.

27 years later, those values still drive Goodwin. Today, 300+ Partners run their own businesses on the Goodwin platform across 10+ industry verticals. And when we asked them what keeps them here, one of Goodwin's founding values kept coming back word for word: "Creator of Your Own Success."

"These people are amazing, I mean, they really do what they say and they say what they do."
