27 years in business
300+ partner-owned businesses
10+ industry verticals
Nights, weekends, and holidays. When do they start counting for you?
You've done the job. You've interviewed the job. You've hired the job. Twenty years of running the operation, building the teams, carrying the numbers, and the schedule still belongs to the business instead of to you. The next holiday rotation is already posted, and your name is on it.
For many partners, there was a moment when they realized they wanted their effort to build something of their own, and not simply someone else’s operation. They didn't leave the industry. They built a business filling its jobs instead, and they say the schedule genuinely becomes yours once the business is built.

Operators who made the move.
Goodwin Partners are the people running their own recruiting businesses on the Goodwin platform, 300+ of them. One in three came from operations. And in our analysis of nearly 1,000 partner profiles, those who came from operations produce the strongest lifetime performance of any background. Here's what they say about making the move.
"You're in business by yourself but not for yourself."
Miguel S. · Partner · Hospitality Operations · 7 months · 21 years at a major fast food chain
On hearing another partner's story before he joined:
"After hearing Vince's story. I was like, 'Ok your experience is a lot like mine.' When he shared that he was earning more as a recruiter vs Operations and that he was now able to spend time at his daughter's events, I said, 'Well, I want to do that!' I am so glad that I made the decision, the best professional decision I have ever made."
Rogers H. · Partner · Hospitality Operations · 5+ years
"Without a doubt, the best professional experience of my life. I have been blessed to work with some great companies and have some great mentors. But none hold a candle to being a partner with Goodwin."
Bob O. · Partner · Hospitality Operations · 9+ years
You already have the foundation this business requires.
Years of hiring, evaluating talent, and knowing your industry from the
inside. Goodwin teaches you how to turn that into a recruiting business.
You've interviewed hundreds
You can read a candidate in ten minutes because you've hired for every seat in the building, and lived with the results.
You know the industry cold
Clients trust recruiters who've done the work. You're not learning a vertical, you're monetizing one your already own.
Your network is a head start
Twenty years of managers, vendors, and peers is the beginning of a book of business, not a rolodex of coworkers.
No recruiting experience? Neither did our highest billers.
You're not selling. You're helping people you understand find work you understand.
A business you build. Goodwin behind it.
What you own
- Your own business. You operate through your own LLC under the Goodwin Recruiting brand.
- Your relationships. You develop and manage your client and candidate relationships as a Goodwin Recruiting Partner.
- Your flexibility. You choose your schedule, the verticals you focus on, and how you organize your work.
What Goodwin funds
- Roughly $32K per year invested in every partner.
- Training built for people who've never recruited, plus a mentor who has.
- A full LinkedIn Recruiter+ (RPS+) license with 140+ InMails per month, fully funded, plus the LinkedIn RPS+ Hiring Assistant.
- Invoicing, collections, accounting, legal, and the tool stack. The back office disappears.
How you make money
- Commission-based. You earn when clients hire the people you place.
- No Goodwin buy-in or franchise fee. No inventory. No downline.
- Unlimited earning potential. Your production determines your income.
"It's your own business under a nice big Goodwin umbrella, which is wonderful because
you don't have to do everything by yourself."

The part most opportunities won't tell you.
Commission-based. There is no salary; your income comes from commission paid on the placements you make.
Plan on four to six months to your first dollar and real effort from day one; the first six months take a full commitment. Building consistent income takes longer, and your ramp will depend on your market, your activity, and your execution. The info session walks through the economics and ramp in details so you can plan for it before you make a decision. We say this up front because partners tell us the honesty is why they trusted everything else.
"They said it's going to be six months before you see a dollar, and I could not fault them on that."
Clayton C. · Partner · Engineering · 1+ year
We know what that means for you: after decades of a paycheck every two weeks, often as the earner your family counts on, the gap is the scariest part. Partners say the way through is planning for it, not pretending it away. And yes, the early months may require some nights and weekends again while you're building the business.
Who thrives here
Self-starters. Disciplined, consistent, resilient people who treat this like the business it is.
Backed by Goodwin from the start
You are not paying to start a business. There is no buy-in, and Goodwin invests roughly $32K a year in every partner from day one.
The flip side
No salary also means no cap. There's no limit to what you can make.
"It's the best career move I've made, but I'd also tell them it's not easy. You're building your own business, and nobody's going to hand it to you. There are definitely days when you question yourself, especially in the beginning, but if you're willing to put in the work, it's absolutely worth it."

What partners say they came for.
The freedom is real. So is the trade.
We surveyed our partners: 90% named freedom as a reason they joined, and nearly half called it their single biggest reason. Not fewer hours. Their hours: which days, which clients, which verticals, and who they answer to.
In practice it looks like this: a business you run from anywhere, in the industry you already know, built around your strengths, and scaled to your own ambition. Nobody assigns your accounts, or decides what your year looks like. You do.
"I love the flexibility and freedom that comes with making my own schedule. Having control over my time and being able to structure my day around what works best for me has been a huge benefit."
Jeff T. · Partner · Hospitality Operations · 3+ years
It comes with a trade: no salary, no safety net, and an income ramp measured in months. Partners describe it as hard and worth it, usually in the same sentence.
When we surveyed our partners on what it's really like, across 60,000 words of answers, the most-used word: Support.
Mentorship, training, a network of 300+ partners who share leads and split searches, and a culture partners consistently describe as collaborative rather than cutthroat.
"I would tell them that Goodwin gives you the opportunity to truly build your own business, but you are never building it alone. You have the independence of being an entrepreneur while having the support, training, technology, and resources of an established recruiting firm behind you. The culture has been one of the biggest surprises for me, in the best way. People genuinely want to help each other succeed, share ideas, and celebrate wins rather than compete against one another."
Jessica J. · Partner · Legal · under 1 year
"It is collaboration, not a competition, at Goodwin Recruiting. Partnering with Goodwin gives you the opportunity to build your own business while never feeling like you're building it alone."

The questions operators ask. Answered straight.
You may not have carried a sales title, but you've been influencing decisions your entire career. You've recruited employees, built vendor relationships, negotiated, solved problems, and earned people's trust. This business requires those same skills, along with a willingness to call prospective clients, hear no, and keep going. Goodwin teaches you how to apply the skills you already have to recruiting.
Stable is 60 hours, nights, weekends, and holidays, until the day it isn't. nearly one in five partners describe a specific trigger that ended the stability they were protecting: burnout, a layoff, a restructuring. Partners say the scariest part was leaving the paycheck, and the best part is never needing one again.
Correct. Plan on four to five months to the first dollar. But you're not ramping alone or from scratch: there's no buy-in, and Goodwin invests roughly $32K a year in every partner, in training, mentorship, proven systems, and an active job board you can start working from day one. All of it exists to shorten the road to that first dollar.
No. There's nothing to buy, no inventory, and no downline: nobody here earns anything from recruiting you. Revenue comes from one place, clients, hiring the people you place. 127 partners put their names on their words, 37 volunteered to say it on camera, and the company has done this for 27 years.
It depends on what you build, and that's the honest answer. Partners bill clients for placements and keep roughly half, with no salary and no cap in either direction. We won't quote a headline number here, because a ramp year and a mature desk looking nothing alike, and any singe figure would mislead you one way or the other. The info session walks through the actual economics, placements fees, the split, and what real ramps look like, so you can run the math on your own market and your own effort.
It's the whole point. Your industry is your vertical: the work you know is the work you'll recruit for, and the clients trust recruiters who've actually run the operation. Partners here recruit across ten industry verticals, almost always the one they came from.
Still have questions? Bring them. The session is live for a reason.
27 years of doing what we say.
In 1999, founder Eric Goodwin was a restaurateur with a knack for hiring great people, so much so that other businesses kept asking him to find theirs. When he turned that into a company, he made two things non-negotiable: relationships and integrity. Do what you say. Treat every client, candidate, and partner as a relationship, not a transaction.
His vision went beyond building a recruiting firm. He wanted to build a company where people could create something of their own, with more control over their leives and the opportunity to benefit directly from the success they created.
27 years later, those values still drive Goodwin. Today, 300+ Partners run their own businesses on the Goodwin platform across 10+ industry verticals. And when we asked them what keeps them here, one of Goodwin's founding values kept coming back word for word: "Creator of Your Own Success."
"These people are amazing, I mean, they really do what they say and they say what they do."
